Theatre Studio is based at the Playhouse Theatre in Cheltenham, where workshops in drama, dance and singing are held throughout the school term on Thursday and Friday evenings, as well as throughout the day on Saturdays, for students aged 4 to 18 years.
Weekly Classes
Theatre Studios' main emphasis lies within its comprehensive weekly curriculum, which covers all aspects of theatrical training, including acting, singing, dance and voice. All students are led by our expert tutors throughout the year, and all are encouraged to build upon their normal schooling qualifications, by gaining certifications within the L.A.M.D.A and Vanguard National Examination system. Furthermore, all students are encouraged to take part in the yearly 'Cheltenham Competitive Festival'.
Many of our past students have gone on to successful professional careers in both Theatre and Television, as either performers or technicians. We are also proud to have successfully helped many students through the challenging ordeal of drama school auditions, on their route to a career in professional theatre.
However, our main emphasis to all students, whether they are here for professional reasons or purely for their own enjoyment, is the value of trust, confidence and lifelong friendship. Most students stay in touch with both the school and each other for many years after they have left. This is testament to the unique family bond that everyone involved with Theatre Studio shares
Summer & Easter Schools
As well as our ongoing weekly workshops, Theatre Studio runs week long Summer and Easter courses. These occur during the school holidays, during which shows are rehearsed, choreographed, lit and performed. Courses run for all age groups from 5 to 18 years, and each class has a dedicated professional director.
Summer schools focus on developing skills that can be used in performance and students get to take part in a series of masterclasses, often taken by industry professionals and experts, in such disciplines as stage combat, song presentations and technique, and many more. Whereas the Easter school allows the students to work on longer stage productions culminating in several public performances at the Playhouse Theatre. There are also courses available for those who wish to develop skills such as set and lighting designing.

Half Term Workshops
We also run regular Two-Day workshops throughout the year, typically during school half term breaks. Students devise, prepare and perform a work of theatre under the direction of our professional tutors, either on our dedicated Acting course, or Musical Theatre course, and family and friends are invited to watch the final show which takes place on the final day.
Other types of workshop are already being planned for the near future, most noticeably our forthcoming musical theatre course. For more details on both existing and future courses, click here.
Private One-on-One Tuition
We also offer the best private one-on-one tuition in the South-West. Our professionally trained and accredited tutors offer regular private lessons in speech, singing, acting and dance. Many of these students take part in national examinations, such as L.A.M.D.A, Poetry Vanguard and Trinity-Guildhall, all of which count as points towards university placements. Private students are also encouraged to take part in festivals and competitions, most noticeably the annual Cheltenham Competitive Festival. For further details, click here
